FRANKFURT, Germany – Senior Softball-USA will celebrate two decades of international travel and competition with a spectacular "Castle Tour" along the romantic Rhine River – and a tournament with teams from five countries in early September.
Teams from Spain, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States are slated to compete in the 10th Annual International Slo-Pitch Tournament in Frankfurt on September 8-9.
The tournament is sponsored by the Dreieich Vultures Old Stars, a Frankfurt-based team that has competed against Senior Softball-USA teams in several international competitions.
The tournament is part of the 20th Annual Romantic Rhine Region tour from Sept. 4-15. "Our tour will delve into the richness of Germany’s beauty and history," said Susan Ruth, director of International Sports Holidays, a division of Senior Softball-USA.
"Players, their families and friends will have a chance to relish the splendor of the Rhine River, with its romantic castles perched on the steep slopes, surrounded by charming and elegant small towns and wineries,” said Ruth. "Neighboring fortress walls and castle towers, palaces and Patrician Houses are vivid illustrations of a turbulent past."
In addition to the sightseeing and tournament, US teams will have a chance to play local teams throughout the tour.
"A rewarding trip is more than playing ball and pretty sightseeing; its memories and friendships shared with people along the way," said Ruth. ".We attract fun, flexible folks who enjoy both softball and a chance to create long lasting friendships - remaining close many years after their “farewell” dinner together."
The 20th International Tour is also offering an extension to Salzburg, Austria. Salzburg, the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is dominated by churches, castles and palaces.
